I plan on doing my Virtual Art Exhibition on the artist named Vincent Van Gogh. The reason that I choose to do my Virtual Art Exhibition on him was because he is my favorite artist and he is the artist that created one of my favorite paintings called The Starry Night. The purpose of my exhibition is that I want to show who Vincent Van Gogh was as an artist. Also to show what was behind the artwork that he has created over the years. In the exhibition I also want to show that Van Gogh was more than just the painter of The Starry Night. I want to show that he created many other paintings as well including Starry Night over the Rhone, The Night Cafe, Wheatfield with Crows, Almond Branches in Bloom, Sunflowers, The Cafe Terrance on the Place du Forum, Fishing Boats on the Beach at Saintes-Maries, The Red Vineyard at Aries and The Mulberry Tree. I also want to show that all the things that he went through in his life also went into the things that he created as an artist. Van Gogh was born on March 30, 1853 in Groot-Zundert, Holland. He began his artistic career in the year 1881. (VanGoghGallery) In the beginning of he art career he taught himself how to paint and he taught himself most of the things that he knows about painting. He was not professionally trained to create art (Artable). He was greatly influenced by the artist Paul Gauguin. The two met during 1887 of November while they were in Paris. (VanGoghGallery) Van Gogh’s main focus of his artwork was on pairings. The mediums that he would use in his paintings was oil. The subjects of his paintings included things like the city, figures, scenery and the landscape around him. He began painting in the time of the art movement called Post-Impressionism. (Artable) Vincent van Gogh died in the year 1890 on July, 29. During his lifetime most of his painting were only sold to his brother Theo. After his death Van Gogh’s paintings became popular and was bought by many people. His paintings were bought not only by museums, but by private owners as well. Also after he dies in Germany he became one of the most famous artists. He also influenced many other artists from the artwork that he did during his time. Many of his paintings like Starry Night were mass produced on all different types of items including, posters, mugs, shirts, phone cases and many other things. Till this day Vincent Van Gogh is one of the most known artists that existed. He was not only known for his artwork that he created, but also the mental illness that he had that led him to cutting off his ear. His artwork influenced many other art movements including Fauvism and Expressionism. Today he is also known as the “Mad Artist”. Also until this day he is one of the most remember and one of the most popular artists of the post-impressionists painters. (Artable)

The Starry Night Painting over the Rhone is a painting that was created on Septemner of 1888 in Aries, France. This painting is an oil based painting that is created on canvas. Starry Night over the Rhone is a very similar looking painting to Vincent Van Gogh’s other painting called Starry Night. The light in the water is coming off of how bright the stars are in the sky. The painting was created after Van Gogh went on a walk. The lighting in this image is also similar to the lighting of the star that he does in Starry Night. The Night Cafe is another one of Van Gogh’s paintings that was created in Aries, France. This painting was create in the year 1888. In this painting you will see similar things brightness is the sky like in the painting Starry Night and Starry Night over the Rhone. The stars in the sky are very bright and they fill up the sky with a loth of light. The brightness of the sky reflects on the city and makes the city look even brighter. The bright colors of the building and the seats of the building brings your attention to that and not just the brightness of the stars in the sky. Your view when looking at the painting goes straight to the bright colors that your see.

sunflowers

The paining Sunflowers was created in the year 1889. The sunflowers painted in the picture look very life like. The colors that he uses for the colors let people feel the emotions that they may feel when they see flowers in person. With the colors he shows that the flowers are dying and withering. The color choice and the flowers bending over the way that they are show that they have come to their death and that they are no longer alive.

The painting in the year 1890 of July. The main subject of the painting is the field itself. This painting was one of the last few that were created before Van Gogh’s death. This painting brings and eerie, dark and haunting feeling to it. Black crows are a symbol of bad things to come and death. So this painting is portraying that Van Gogh was coming to the ending of his artistic career and being alive. The blacks crows look like they are coming into the field to take what it is in the field away from it.
